We all explore, every day. For all our searching – it’s rare to find time to think, and talk, about the big questions of life; about faith and reason and God and meaning. But exploring is good. We’re built for it. Six people from six different countries tried Alpha and explored the meaning of life.
WHAT IS ALPHA?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.
1. FIRST UP, FOOD:
Food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. We start with food, because it’s a great way to encourage community and get to know each other.
2. THEN A TALK:
The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally thirty minutes long, we watch a video that explores the big issues around faith and unpacks the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? Watch a sample talk.
3. FOLLOWED BY A DISCUSSION:
Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
Dates: Sunday, 1/13/19 - 3/31/19
Location: Sunnyvale Community Center
Time: Sundays, 12 PM - 2 PM; lunch will always be included
lt’s going to take a team to run Alpha at Renewal. Want to get involved? We are looking for 4-6 people to help with food prep, setup/teardown, and facilitate conversations as a table leader. Must be able to commit to all 12 weeks and attend scheduled prayer meetings and team trainings.
